This paper discusses the unique expressive method used to describe the spatial scenery of "the ancient capital of Asuka" in Yamabe no Akahito's "Poems Composed on the Climb of Mt. Kamuoka" (Man'yoshu, Volume 3, Poems 324-325). In this work, "tazu" is expressed as "midaru" and "kahazu" as "sawaku." This expression is unique to this work in the Man'yoshu. This fact has not been pointed out before. When people of the time of the Man'yoshu encountered the words "tazu" and "kawazu," the vibrant cries of the animals would reverberate in their minds. Yamabe no Akahito utilized this sensory foundation. He then used visual depictions of numerous "tazu" and "kawazu" covering the entire surface to create a layered portrayal of the vibrant scenery of the ancient capital of Asuka. Here we can point to the existence of a method of expression that uses auditory elements as a foundation to express visual elements in a layered manner, and it can be said that this method of expression is similar to the "Crossmodal correspondences" that discusses the interaction between the senses in modern cognitive science.

墓誌の表現分析を基盤として、従来指摘されていない日・中・韓三カ国の古代の文化交流の様相を解明し東アジアの文化交流への理解を豊かなものにする。これが本研究の最大の目的である。研究代表者廣川晶輝は文部科学省に申請し交付を得た「平成20年度私立大学等研究設備整備費等補助金」により「金石文研究の基礎的かつ必須図書一式」を既に整備し良好な研究環境を活用できる。また、平成19～21年度科研費基盤研究(C)「上代文学における墓の表現性についての基礎的研究」・平成22～26年度科研費基盤研究(C)「墓誌の表現分析に基づく日中文化交流の基礎的研究」による韓国での臨地調査研究で、中国墓誌の文言から韓国葬送儀礼の「輓章」への影響を新たに発見した。確実な立脚点を得て上記目的を推進する。

中国出土墓誌に見られる表現が日本上代文学の表現に与えている影響について解明し、日中文化交流の従来指摘されてこなかった道筋を明白にする。これが本研究の最大の目的である。研究代表者廣川晶輝は既に「墓誌」の文言が日本上代文学の表現に影響を及ぼしている道筋を新たに明らかにしている(廣川晶輝「山上憶良作漢文中の「再見」小考」、2007年)。 なお、廣川晶輝は文部科学省に申請し交付を得た「平成20年度私立大学等研究設備整備費等補助金」によって「金石文研究の基礎的かつ必須図書一式」を既に整備できている。中国出土墓誌研究の良好な環境を活用し、平成19～21年度科学研究費補助金基盤研究(C)「上代文学における墓の表現性についての基礎的研究」の成果を活用し、上記目的を確実に推進する。

日本文学上の「菟原娘子伝説」には、『万葉集』(高橋虫麻呂歌・田辺福麻呂歌・大伴家持歌)、『大和物語』第147段「生田川」、観阿弥作謡曲「求塚」、森鷗外作戯曲「生田川」というように上代から近代にかけての息の長い利用のされ方があり、射程の長い立論が可能となる。上記のように時代を超えて数々の作品として生まれ出ることができたことの鍵を、「墓」という場所が持つ表現性が握っていると考えられる。本研究はこのような視点に立ち、「菟原娘子伝説」の初発の位置にある『万葉集』の作品の表現を分析し、「墓」が作品の中の〈場所〉として選ばれていることによってどのような表現のあり方が開かれているのか、どのような「偲ひ」の表現が開かれているのかを追究する。
