The COVID-19 began to spread in 2019 and has led to significant restrictions on human contact and interaction around the world. At Japanese universities, the disease had a large impact on university students' lives, studies and mental health.
In September 2022, the in-person classes have been implemented to a large extent and the interaction between students seem to be active again, however, university students who entered the university in 2020 and 2021 are strongly affected by the restrictions in 2020 and 2021 and are likely to face many difficulties in their studies, lives, and thus experienced psychological distress.
In this paper, we first overview university events and classes that were generally held before the pandemic, as well as activities in clubs and interaction with their friends and examine what kind of role it played in the adaptation of the first-year students.
Next, we will discuss the situations experienced and challenges faced by them and explore what kind of relationship and support is needed for students who have insufficient experience in their university life due to pandemic. -

In this paper, the experience of one counselor who almost finished his clinical training at graduate school and started his carrier at a Japanese student counseling center was presented and the difficulties were discussed.
Finally, the students and the people working on the ground is an inevitable part in building the counselorʼs specialty and identity as a counselor who is working in this field. -

After the first case of COVID-19 was reported in December 2020, the virus spread quickly across the world.
Not only the people but also the political, economic and social system of many countries were affected by the virus, and lot of confusion were caused. Many Japanese universities and student counseling services faced difficulties to continue face-to face counseling and the international students who received counseling at these institutions were at risk to abandon the counseling sessions.
This paper reviews the initial phase of the pandemic and examines what kind of impact the virus had on the counseling services and international student’s psyche and thier social situation.
The measures that were taken to continue counseling and the possibilities of communicating with international students in a pandemic/crisis situation were also discussed. -

The number of international students in Japan has increased drastically since the “300,000 international student plan (Ryuugakusei 30 mannnin keikaku)” which is let by several Japanese ministries.
As for the Japanese national and private universities, accepting international students has become an important mission to survive a society with declining birth rate.
However, Japan does not have a long history of accepting many international students with diasbilities. Therefore, a system that provides various care for those students should be built up rapidly.
The counselors of student counseling room can contribute to provide mental care for international students with disabilities and these were discussed. -
