    A new class of rigid and planar compounds, carbazole-fused thioindigo oligomers (CznTIn−1, n = 2, 3), was prepared using palladium-catalyzed carbon–sulfur bond formation and intramolecular Friedel–Crafts acylation as the key reactions. The reaction conditions for the formation of the thioindigo moiety, as well as the basic photo- and electrochemical properties of the oligomers, including photochromic behavior, were investigated.
