本研究は、生涯スポーツとしての体操競技におけるトレーニング環境整備のモデル提示を目的とするものである。本研究では、大学体育施設を利用した環境整備に注目する。その際、ヨーロッパ（ドイツ語圏）における大学スポーツ文化とわが国のクラブ活動文化を参考にし、わが国のスポーツ文化を活かしながら地域における体操競技のトレーニング環境整備事例を提示する。

本研究の目的はわが国において生涯スポーツとしての体操競技をより推進させるための競技会モデル作成にある。具体的には、わが国で毎年開催されている「全日本社会人体操競技選手権大会」（以下、全日本社会人大会と表記する）における適用採点規則、競技形式に関する改正案モデルを示すことにある。この目的を達成するに当たり、社会人の体操競技大会が盛んに行われているドイツ連邦共和国における「社会人大会の現状」について「①競技会の形式」「②適用採点規則」に関する調査を行う。この調査結果とわが国の現状を考慮した後に全日本社会人大会の改正モデルを示す。
